Fond Memories and Excellent Food -Review by KHillLV
“It has been years since we last dined at da Giovanni. We started going here in the late 90’s when this was Firok’s only restaurant in Carmel. We had 2 couples from London with us and I had been raving about da Giovanni for several days and it didn’t disappoint. As soon as we climbed the stairs old memories came flying back. Firok’s daughter was working that night and greeted us warmly. I told her how we had longed to get back here and how fondly we remembered her father.

“The fare is traditional Italian — mostly old family recipes passed down from the owner’s Italian, Greek and Turkish relatives. The other plus are the house wines. Always an excellent choice. Tonight we had two bottles of their Meritage. Excellent.

“When it came time to order entrees, we were lucky that the Cannelloni was available. Four of us had the Cannelloni which was as excellent as I always remembered it. The rack of lamb and steak were also excellent.

“After dinner I always remembered getting their white port. Yes, they still offer that after dinner and all six of us indulged. Fantastic.

“Although Firok has opened two other restaurants in Carmel, we will always have our fondest memories of da Giovani and all our wonderful meals there. It’s not to be missed.”
